MediCluster, Making Health Together is a pioneering programme dedicated to addressing the severe shortage of specialised training for healthcare professionals in Angola. Our mission is to improve the skills and knowledge of Angolan medical specialists and hospital staff through scholarship programmes and training initiatives developed in collaboration with renowned public and private hospitals in Portugal and Angola.

MediCluster was created with the mission of training health professionals in Portuguese-speaking African countries through high-level training programmes designed to respond directly to local needs. The ultimate goal is to contribute to more resilient, inclusive and sustainable health systems capable of providing quality care to populations.
More than just a training provider, MediCluster sees itself as an agent of change. We believe that transformation in healthcare is not achieved solely through the transmission of techniques and knowledge, but also through the creation of communities of practice and networks of trust that remain beyond each training cycle.
Combining pedagogical innovation, institutional collaboration and a strong commitment to excellence, we invest in what is most lasting: people. Training healthcare professionals means sowing knowledge that multiplies in every consultation, every hospital and every life saved.

MediCluster aims to establish itself as a leading provider of advanced healthcare training programmes in Portuguese-speaking African countries, building a solid network of cooperation between hospitals, universities and public and private partners.
Over the next three years, the programme aims to:
What sets MediCluster apart is its personalised and long-term approach, which differs from short-term or generic programmes. Each scholarship is designed to ensure continuity, genuine exchange between trainer and trainee, and alignment with local challenges. The vision is clear: highly skilled professionals capable of raising the quality of health systems in PALOP countries and ensuring a transformative impact on communities.

MediCluster is based on four core values that guide its actions:
Innovation
We believe that innovation is the key to transforming healthcare systems. That is why we incorporate cutting-edge teaching methodologies, from hybrid training models to structured fellowship programmes, combining theory, practice and applied research.
Innovation is evident not only in our teaching methods, but also in the way we bring together hospitals, universities and professionals from different contexts, creating solutions tailored to the real needs of each country. Our priority is to ensure that each programme reflects the highest international standards and is in line with best practices in medical education and hospital training.
Colaboration
At MediCluster, we recognise that no systemic transformation happens in isolation. We work side by side with public, private and social hospitals in Portugal and the PALOP countries, universities, the pharmaceutical industry, associations and governments, creating a network that multiplies resources and knowledge. Public-private collaboration is one of the pillars of the project and ensures not only the complementarity of skills, but also the sustainability of the solutions implemented. This value translates into solid partnerships, based on mutual trust and shared responsibilities, which ensure a lasting impact.
Excelence
We are committed to offering training and programmes of exceptional quality, with scientific, pedagogical and organisational rigour. We work with highly qualified teams – specialty coordinators, medical and non-medical trainers, academics and researchers – ensuring that each trainee has access to the best knowledge and international best practices. For us, excellence is a non-negotiable commitment: every professional trained by MediCluster must be prepared to face clinical and management challenges with competence, confidence and responsibility.
Impact
We measure our success by the concrete transformation we create in health systems and communities. Each trained professional represents hundreds of lives benefited, each alumni network created ensures continuity of knowledge, and each hospital involved multiplies its response capacity. MediCluster’s impact translates into reduced dependence on foreign professionals, improved quality of care, and strengthened public confidence in national health systems. Our commitment is clear: to transform investment in training into real gains in public health, social development, and long-term sustainability.
These values translate into action focused on creating sustainable, equitable, and high-impact solutions, in close collaboration with institutional, academic, and government partners.
